This series consists of five subseries including Construction and Maintenance Files (12006), 1912-1913; Telephone Cable Files (12008), 1910-1940; General Correspondence (12030), 1915-1941; Historical Files relating to Angel Island (12030), 1894-1941; and Angel Island Ferry (12030), 1911-1941. The construction and maintenance files include specifications, blueprints, memorandums, and correspondence concerning construction maintenance projects on Angel Island. Especially interesting are files related to the proposed crematorium. Telephone cable files contain information about the telephone cable running under the bay from Angel Island to San Francisco. The Angel Island ferry files contain information about vessels used to ferry staff members and immigrants from Angel Island to San Francisco.

Angel Island Immigration Station, located in San Francisco Bay, operated from January 21, 1910 to November 5, 1940. The island was originally a fishing and hunting site for Coastal Miwok Indians before being colonoized by the Spanish and later the United States.
